Michael James Kacey
began his career as an actor before embracing filmmaking. He has written, directed and produced two feature films through his company Anthracite Films: "Daybreak" and "The Poet Laureate of Radio: An Interview with Norman Corwin." His current project, a detailed look at early broadcasting, is called "Radio Changed America."

As an actor, Mike has appeared in episodes of "Beverly Hills 90210", "All That," and in the film "Live From Baghdad." He was also in a national commercial for Cracker Jacks (the proceeds of which, paid for much of post production on "Daybreak").

His first film, "Daybreak,"was shot in 15 days on two coasts; 12 days on location in northeastern Pennsylvania, and the remaining 3 days in Los Angeles, CA. The dark drama stars Paul Clemens ("The Beast Within") as Jeff Stokes, a man who makes a wish to change his past, in the process destroying his present a future. The film is available on DVD.

"The Poet Laureate of Radio: An Interview with Norman Corwin" is a documentary featuring legendary radio playwright-director-producer Norman Corwin's journey through the Golden Age of Radio and the impact the medium has had on American society. The DVD is available here or on Amazon.


Mike has been a guest on nearly a dozen radio stations from coast-to-coast, including "The Joey Reynolds Show" on WOR, New York and "Don't Touch That Dial"on KPFK, Los Angeles.


Mike also tours with a live presentation called "The Creative Journey: Living Life as a Creative Person." He has spoken at Colorado State University (Pueblo, CO), Bucknell University (Lewisburg, PA), Marymount College (Los Angeles, CA) and King's College (Wilkes-Barre, PA).


A native of Shamokin, Pennsylvania, Mike currently makes his home in Los Angeles. He has a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Penn State University. His is a member of the Pacific Pioneers Broadcasters in Los Angeles, CA.
