Now I don’t often write in the third person, but when I do… it looks like this:
Michael James Kacey began his career as an actor before embracing filmmaking. He has written, directed and produced two feature films through his company Anthracite Films: Daybreak and The Poet Laureate of Radio: An Interview with Norman Corwin. His current project, a detailed look at radio broadcasting, is called HEARING VOICES: How Radio Changed America & America Changed Radio.
As an actor, Mike has appeared in episodes of Beverly Hills 90210, All That, and in the film Live From Baghdad. He was also in a national commercial for Cracker Jack.
His first film, Daybreak, was shot in fifteen days on two coasts: twelve days on location in northeastern Pennsylvania, and the remaining three days in Los Angeles. The dark drama stars Paul Clemens (The Beast Within, The Horribly Show Murderer) as Jeff Stokes, a man who makes a wish to change his past, in the process destroying his present and future. The film is available on DVD at the Anthracite Films Official Website.
Mike then wrote and published a book detailing all of the things he learned while making Daybreak. Titled Long Night’s Journey Into Daybreak: 10 Things You Need to Know Before You Make Your First Feature Film. The book is available on Amazon in paperback or eBook.
The Poet Laureate of Radio: An Interview with Norman Corwin is a documentary featuring legendary radio playwright-director-producer Norman Corwin’s describing his journey through the Golden Age of Radio and the impact the medium has had on American society. The DVD is available on Amazon.
Mike has been a guest on nearly a dozen radio shows on stations from coast-to-coast, including The Joey Reynolds Show on WOR, New York, and Don’t Touch That Dial on KPFK, Los Angeles.
Mike also tours with a live presentation called The Creative Journey: Living Life as a Creative Person. He has spoken at Colorado State University (Pueblo, CO), Bucknell University (Lewisburg, PA), Marymount College (Los Angeles, CA) and King’s College (Wilkes-Barre, PA).
Mike currently serves as Executive Consultant of the new web series Creative Continuity from Bestow Productions.
A native of Shamokin, Pennsylvania, Mike currently makes his home in Los Angeles, California. He has a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Penn State University. His is a member of the Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters.
