Michael James Kacey will be attending the upcoming 2010 Showcase at REPS (The Radio Enthusiasts of Puget Sound) June 25-27, 2010 at the Coast Bellevue Hotel in Bellevue, Washington.
Billed as “a grand salute to the greatest shows and stars from the Golden Age of Radio,” the annual event welcomes Old Time Radio (OTR) fans from across the country see live recreations (in some cases starring radio veterans recreating their original roles!), listen to panel discussions and browse the REPS Store for merchandise related to the good old days of radio.
On Friday afternoon at 2:45pm Norman Corwin will be interviewed by MJK. This will immediately be followed with a live recreation of the May 30, 1944 “Columbia Presents Corwin” entry called “Untitled” about a dead soldier as recalled by those who knew him in life. MJK will direct the 30-minute production starring Leonard Smith (“Our Miss Brooks”), Gloria McMillan (“Our Miss Brooks”), Rosemary Rice (“Archie Andrews”), Ivan Cury (“Bobby Benson and the B-Bar-B Riders”), Stuffy Singer (“The Jack Benny Program”), Dave Parker (“The Lone Ranger”), Bob Hudson (“Death Valley Days”), Larry Albert and Kate McKnight. Sonia Wisgo has recreated the original Bernard Herrmann score for this performance.
On Saturday, Norman Corwin will be signing copies of his latest book “One World Flight: The Lost Journal of Radio’s Greatest Writer” from 12:30pm to 2pm. Copies of the book will be available for purchase along with the new Radio Spirits 10-CD box set “Norman Corwin: Centennial” and the DVD “The Poet Laureate of Radio: An Interview of Norman Corwin.” Glossy 8x10 photos can also be purchased for Norman’s signature!
