MJK attending REPS in Seattle June 25-27,2010

Michael James Kacey will be attending the upcoming 2010 Showcase at REPS (The Radio Enthusiasts of Puget Sound) June 25-27, 2010 at the Coast Bellevue Hotel in Bellevue, Washington.

Billed as “a grand salute to the greatest shows and stars from the Golden Age of Radio,” the annual event welcomes Old Time Radio (OTR) fans from across the country see live recreations (in some cases starring radio veterans recreating their original roles!), listen to panel discussions and browse the REPS Store for merchandise related to the good old days of radio.

On Friday afternoon at 2:45pm Norman Corwin will be interviewed by MJK. This will immediately be followed with a live recreation of the May 30, 1944 “Columbia Presents Corwin” entry called “Untitled” about a dead soldier as recalled by those who knew him in life. MJK will direct the 30-minute production starring Leonard Smith (“Our Miss Brooks”), Gloria McMillan (“Our Miss Brooks”), Rosemary Rice (“Archie Andrews”), Ivan Cury (“Bobby Benson and the B-Bar-B Riders”), Stuffy Singer (“The Jack Benny Program”), Dave Parker (“The Lone Ranger”), Bob Hudson (“Death Valley Days”), Larry Albert and Kate McKnight. Sonia Wisgo has recreated the original Bernard Herrmann score for this performance.

On Saturday, Norman Corwin will be signing copies of his latest book “One World Flight: The Lost Journal of Radio’s Greatest Writer” from 12:30pm to 2pm. Copies of the book will be available for purchase along with the new Radio Spirits 10-CD box set “Norman Corwin: Centennial” and the DVD “The Poet Laureate of Radio: An Interview of Norman Corwin.” Glossy 8x10 photos can also be purchased for Norman’s signature!

The REPS Showcase runs 9am to 9pm on Friday, June 25th and Saturday, June 26th and concludes 9am to noon on Sunday, June 27th. A complete schedule of events and list of special guest can be found on the REPS Showcase website: http://www.repsonline.org/

Michael James Kacey joins hosts Bobb Lynes and Barbara Sunday to celebrate the upcoming 100th birthday of radio legend Norman Corwin. The show is heard locally in Los Angles on KPFK-FM 90.7 and may also be heard online streaming at kpfk.org. "Don't Touch That Dial" runs midnight to 3am PDT.

Michael James Kacey was a guest "The Joey Reynolds Show" broadcast on WOR AM-710 (New York, NY) on October 25, 2009 during the 3-4am hour. He was joined by movie producer Harvey Rochman and Denver radio personality Rick Barber. The effort to recognize Norman Corwin with the Congressional Gold Medal was discussed among many other things!

Michael James Kacey will present “Norman Corwin: The Most Influential Voice You’ve Never Heard” on the campus of King’s College in Wilkes Barre, PA on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 7:30pm in the Burke Auditorium. The multimedia talk will include audio clips from Mr. Corwin’s most famous works along with video clips from “The Poet Laureate of Radio: An Interview with Norman Corwin” DVD. Admission is free.
